Oliver Joncus is a second-year M.A. student in Communication Studies at 黑料不打烊 University, working under the supervision of Professor Alex Blue V. His research explores how listening is configured as a site of governance within contemporary media systems, focusing on its role in shaping attention, affect, and relationality. With a strong foundation in sound studies and environmental humanities, his thesis explores how compositional practices and sound design intersect with technological infrastructures鈥攆rom generative audio platforms to smart city systems鈥攊n the regulation of public and private sonic environments. His research is supported by the FRQSC Master鈥檚 Scholarship.
