Previously\, Mr. Bowly ran the data colle ction operations for Statistics Canada and was the manager of the monthly Labour Force Survey\, the source of the official unemployment rate\, and o ne of the world's largest ongoing household surveys. Mr. Bowlby is passion ate about working with information and data to develop stories on the stat e of the nation. He has appeared before House of Commons and Senate Commit tees and has chaired a United Nations task force.\n\n  \n \n \n \n \n  \n\n  \n\n \n\n  \n \n \n  \n\n \n Dr. Bethany DeSalvo is the Branch Chief of Small Area Mo deling and Development in the Social\, Economic\, and Housing Statistics D ivision at the United States Census Bureau. Her branch is responsible for the research\, development and application of small area estimation techni ques to provide data users with finer detail data than can be provided by direct survey estimates. Her area is also responsible for exploring\, deve loping\, and extending the use of small area estimation methods to new con tent areas. Previously\, Bethany worked for the Federal Statistical Resear ch Data Centers (FSRDC’s) where she worked closely with academic researche rs to utilize federal data to answer complex problems.\n \n \n \n\n\nLunch&Le arn\n\nThis is our May Lunch&Learn session of the 2021-22 Training Year.
