Specificall y\, we will cover theoretical and practical considerations for fitting ran dom effect/nested random effect models and generating meaningful predictio ns and inferences. Further\, we will discuss hierarchical models for longi tudinal and time series data. Participants will get access to several work ed examples written in STAN and an example in INLA.\n\nAt the end of this workshop\, you will:\n    > Understand the difference between Bayesian rand om effect and fixed effect models\;\n    > Fitting random effect and nested random effect models in Stan\;\n    > Priors for hierarchical models and m odel complexity\;\n    > Introduction to hierarchical Bayesian models for l ongitudinal and time series models\;\n    > Understanding a hierarchical lo ngitudinal model fit in INLA (if time permits).\n\n*Note the time of this workshop differs from our usual statistics workshops.\n\nDate: Monday Apri l 11th\, 2022.\n Time: 11am to 1pm.\n Location: online via Zoom.\n Instructor : Tyrel Stokes\, PhD student\, Dept. of Mathematics and Statistics.\n\nThi s workshop is offered for free by the Faculty of Science to the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ com munity. Due to the limited amount of spots available\, if you sign up for a workshop and don't show up\, you will not be allowed to attend another w orkshop this semester.\n\nRegister here\n\n \n DTSTART:20220411T150000Z DTEND:20220411T170000Z SUMMARY:Bayesian statistics | Hierarchical models URL:/cdsi/channels/event/bayesian-statistics-hierarchi cal-models-338795 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
