 nce.  This year’s Dorothy J. Killam Lecturer is Dr. Carla Shatz who is Sap
 p Family Provostial Professor of Biology and Neurobiology and Director of 
 Bio-X\, Stanford’s pioneering biosciences program that brings together fac
 ulty from across the entire university- Clinicians\, Biologists\, Engineer
 s\, Physicists\, Computer Scientists- to unlock the secrets of the human b
 ody. Dr. Shatz will deliver her lecture\, 'Releasing the Brake on Synaptic
  Plasticity' on Monday\, April 29th\, 2013 at 4:00 pm.  Dr. Shatz's resear
 ch aims to understand cellular and molecular mechanisms for how early deve
 loping brain circuits are transformed into adult connections during critic
