DESCRIPTION:Come and have fun through a networking and improvisational work
 shop at the Schulich School of Music! Our focus will be to explore the dec
 onstruction of the ‘no error’ musical culture through improvisation. Open 
 to those who are interested in playful learning.\nProfessional classical m
 usic instrumental trainees often develop perfectionism and it is commonly 
 thought that ‘no error’ performance is a must for a successful classical m
 usical career. At the same time\, successful performers are expected to be
  unique. One may ask ‘How to develop its own voice without taking risks?’
 \nImprovisation has been shown to empower people to practice their skills 
 of embracing the unexpected and taking risks.  This workshop will provide 
 an introduction to theoretical concepts of the basis of theatrical improvi
 sational practice (taking risks\, sharing control\, exploring status\, get
 ting fully into the present moment) and practical activities. Participants
  will have the opportunity to connect this to their own experiences and ex
 plore applications to deconstruct ‘no error’ debilitating cultures.\nImpro
 visation encourages people to break out of patterns of behaviour that may 
 hold them back professionally\, socially or personally. Also\, it enhances
  one’s ability to communicate and collaborate and develop one’s capacity t
 o listen\, respond and build with others (all essential skills in music ma
