DESCRIPTION:The next film in the Neuro Film series is a blend of science\nf
 iction and noir detective fiction. Blade Runner (1982) was a box\noffice a
 nd critical bust upon its initial exhibition\, but its\nunique postmodern 
 production design became hugely influential\nwithin the sci-fi genre\, and
  the film gained a significant cult\nfollowing that increased its stature.
  Blade Runner was directed by\nRidley Scott and stars Harrison Ford\, Rutg
 er Hauer and Sean Young.\nThe plot focuses on a brutal and cunning group o
 f recently escaped\nreplicants (genetically engineered organic robots)\, h
 iding in a\ndystopian Los Angeles\, circa November 2011\,  and the burnt o
 ut\nexpert blade runner (police special operative) who reluctantly\nagrees
  to take on one more assignment to hunt them down.\nBlade Runner will be h
 osted by Dr. Philippe Séguéla whose\nprimary interest is in the molecular 
 basis of hyperexcitability in\nthe brain and in sensory pathways. Dr. Ségu
 éla's group uses a\nmultidisciplinary approach based on recombinant DNA me
 thodology\,\nbiochemistry and electrophysiological recordings in mammalian
 \nneurons\, transfected cells and the Xenopus oocyte expression\nsystem. T
 he Séguéla laboratory is investigating the functional\ndiversity of severa
 l excitatory ion channels to understand their\ncontribution to neurologica
 l pathologies.  Dr. Seguela will\ndiscuss the neuroscience-related topics 
 illustrated in this movie\nwhich are pain and CIP (congenital insensitivit
 y to pain) syndroms\,\nartificial brains and artificial intelligence.\nDis
