After finishing his doctorate under the superv ision of Manfred Reetz in Marburg (Germany)\, he performed postdoctoral st udies with K. Barry Sharpless at MIT\, Cambridge (USA). Subsequently\, Car sten Bolm obtain a habilitation associated with Bernd Giese Basel (Switzer land). After a short term as Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Univers ity of Marburg (Germany)\, he moved to RWTH Aachen University (Germany) wh ere he holds a chair of Organic Chemistry since 1996.
