The William Dawson Scholar award recognizes scholars at ��ϲ�� developing into an outstanding and original researcher of world-class caliber who is poised to become a leader in their field. The award is given for a five-year term.

The Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences 18th Annual Research Day took place on April 24 at the Centre Mont-Royal. With a record-breaking crowd of over 270 participants including researchers, dental medicine students, graduate students, and clinical and administrative staff, the event provided a dynamic platform for exchange, ideas, and discussion. The day was marked by a series of engaging presentations and discussions, showcasing the innovative research being conducted within the Faculty.

Can clear aligners improve dental malocclusion in patients with Osteogenesis Imperfecta?

The Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences is spearheading a new study looking at the use of clear orthodontic aligners to help individuals diagnosed with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), a rare genetic disorder often referred to as brittle bone disease. This condition not only affects bone strength but can also affect the teeth and jaws in some individuals.

3D imaging leads to discovery of how wet fibers attach to the shell mineral in avian eggshell attachment

How does biology intersect with geology in nature to securely attach wet, slippery organic fibers to a thin layer of rock? The results of a study led by principal investigator Marc McKee published in iScience discovered exactly how the wet fibers attach to the shell mineral, which is a difficult challenge in biology.

7th annual OMFS Research Day

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) held its 7th Research Day on October 18 in the newly reopened Osler Auditorium at the Montreal General Hospital. The event showcased the work of residents and graduate students and fostered a spirit of academic excellence. OMFS Research Day is part of the Dr. Kenneth Bentley Lecture Series in OMFS, taking place during ��ϲ��'s Homecoming week.

Ten abstracts were presented on topics that spanned the full spectrum of OMFS, from cutting-edge surgical techniques to the exploration of innovative technologies.

Organized by Dean Elham Emami and Associate Member Samira Abbasgholizadeh Rahimi, the two-day event Integrating Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the Development of Artificial Intelligence for Better Health and Oral Health Care - EDIAI Pilot Study brought together a diverse group of experts, researchers, and industry professionals. The workshop, held on June 15 and 16 featured dynamic exchanges, group discussions, and interactive exercises aimed at shaping an EDI/AI conceptual framework.

JDR Clinical & Translational Research Receives First Ever Impact Factor

The International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) and the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) has announced that the JDR Clinical & Translational Research (JDR CTR) received its first Journal Impact Factor™. It earned a Journal Impact Factor of 3.0, with an Eigenfactor™ of 0.00148, an Immediacy Index of 0.5, and 786 total citations in 2022. This represents a significant achievement and a huge milestone in JDR CTR’s history, which was launched in 2016.
