One example is the overuse an d misuse of spinal imaging for spinal disorders\, a well-recognized public health concern. We propose using an optimized audit and feedback (A&F) in tervention enhanced with online educational messages from peer opinion lea ders to reduce inappropriate spine x-ray in the largest CAM provider netwo rk in the US. The development of our optimized A&F intervention follows th e 5-step systematic design of evidence-based interventions. Specifically\, a fractional factorial trials with embedded process evaluations will be u sed\, following the Multiphase Optimization Strategy (MOST) design to iden tify which components are active and to determine which combination of act ive components is the most effective optimized intervention. This will lea d to a future randomized trial (confirming phase) to test the effectivenes s of the optimized intervention for translating current spine x-ray guidel ines into clinical practice.\n\nOBJECTIVES:\n\n\n To discuss the design of an audit and feedback (A&F) report using theory-based program and delivery components   \n To describe strategies for testing the active components o f the A&F with fractional factorial trials using the MOST design\n To discu ss the design of a large randomized trial to test the effectiveness of the optimized A&F intervention on reducing spinal x-ray utilization rates.\n \n\nBIO:\n\nDr. André Bussières is an Assistant Professor at the School of Physical and Occupational Therapy and an Associate Member\, Department of Epidemiology\, Biostatistics and Occupational Health at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ University . He holds a Canadian Chiropractic Research Foundation (CCRF) Professorshi p in Rehabilitation Epidemiology. He is also a professor in the Chiropract ic Department at l’Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. His research int erest focuses on clinical practice guidelines development and uptake to im prove patient care and health outcome\, knowledge synthesis\, implementati on research and professional behaviour change.\n\n \n\nwww.mcgill.ca/epi-b iostat-occh/news-events/seminars/epidemiology\n DTSTART:20160321T200000Z DTEND:20160321T210000Z LOCATION:Room 521\, McIntyre Medical Building\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3G 1Y 6\, 3655 promenade Sir William Osler SUMMARY:Epidemiology Seminar - 'Optimizing a knowledge translation interven tion using the Multiphase Optimization Strategy (MOST) design' URL:/epi-biostat-occh/channels/event/epidemiology-semi nar-optimizing-knowledge-translation-intervention-using-multiphase-optimiz ation-258354 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
