Soon after the first AIDS case was reported in 1986 in Abidjan\, a national response was mounted and a range of interventions have been sca led up during the 1990s and 2000s to address this health crisis. Most nota bly\, these include: condom interventions\, antiretroviral therapy (ART)\, and prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) activities. Today\ , the UNAIDS aims to “end the AIDS epidemic as a major global health threa t by 2030” by considerably scaling up testing and treatment access (i.e.\, the UNAIDS 90-90-90 objective). In order to better understand the epidemi c and estimate the population-level impact of different interventions\, I developed a detailed age-stratified dynamical model of HIV transmission\, parameterized it using local data\, and fitted it to prevalence and progra mmatic data using a Bayesian framework. In this talk\, I will (1) briefly discuss the role of models in impact evaluation\, (2) assess the populatio n-level impact of past HIV interventions (condoms\, ART\, and PMTCT) in Cô te d’Ivoire\, and (3) estimate the effect on HIV transmission of accelerat ing the national response to reach UNAIDS 90-90-90 objective by 2020.\n\nB io:\n\nMathieu Maheu-Giroux is a Bisby Fellow at Imperial College London. He obtained a doctoral degree in Global Health & Population from the Harva rd TH Chan School of Public Health (ScD’15)\, Master’s degrees from ϲ University in both Epidemiology (MSc’09) and Ecology (MSc’05)\, and an un dergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the Université de Montréal (BSc’03). Dr. Maheu-Giroux’s work spans the areas of population health\, e pidemiology\, and infectious diseases. Over the last years\, he has focuse d primarily on impact evaluations of public health interventions\, measure ments and disease burden assessments\, and behavioral interventions to con trol infectious diseases.\n\nwww.imperial.ac.uk/people/m.maheu-giroux\n\n  \n DTSTART:20160225T173000Z DTEND:20160225T183000Z LOCATION:Room 24\, Purvis Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 1A2\, 1020 avenue des Pins Ouest SUMMARY:Special Seminar - 'Modeling the population-level impact of HIV prev ention in Côte D’Ivoire' URL:/epi-biostat-occh/channels/event/special-seminar-m odeling-population-level-impact-hiv-prevention-cote-divoire-259087 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
