Monday\, 6 February 2017 4:00 pm - 5:0 0 pm – McIntyre Medical Building 3655 promenade Sir William Osler – Meakin s Amphitheater - Rm 521\n\nALL ARE WELCOME\n\nSYNOPSIS: Adherence to both ART and second-line TB medicines is essential to achieving successful outc omes in patients coinfected with HIV and extensively drug-resistant TB. Fi ndings from a prospective study in 2009- 2011\, in KwaZulu-Natal South Afr ica\, found patients to be significantly more adherent to ART compared to TB medicines. In 2012-13\, we investigated the reasons underlying this dif ference using qualitative methods. An exploratory approach allowed us to c apture critical\, poorly addressed barriers to adherence in the context of the South African twin epidemics. \n\nSEE PDF FOR DETAILS\n DTSTART:20170206T210000Z DTEND:20170206T220000Z SUMMARY:SEMINAR:Differential adherence to treatment in HIV-TB coinfected pa tients: what does qualitative research show?
