Unlike the terrestrial domain\, less than 20% of the seafloor is mapped and most areas are only mapped once\, hindering our ability to observe seabed changes in response to cryospheric processe s. This presentation will showcase recent examples of seabed changes in re sponse to glacier melting and permafrost thaw in the eastern Canadian Arct ic. It will specifically address the role of icebergs in generating marine geohazards such as submarine landslides and turbidity currents and the ro le of permafrost thaw on modifying seabed geomorphology. These examples wi ll highlight the importance of seafloor maps and the monitoring of marine sedimentary processes\, especially in a changing climate.\n\nSpeaker: Alex andre Normandeau\, Geological Survey of Canada\, Bedford Institute of Ocea nography\, Dartmouth\, Nova Scotia\n\n \n DTSTART:20221118T170000Z DTEND:20221118T180000Z LOCATION:Room 426\, Burnside Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 0B9\, 805 rue Sherbrooke Ouest SUMMARY:Alexandre Normandeau (Geological Survey of Canada) - Impact of a ch anging cryosphere on the seabed of the eastern Canadian Arctic URL:/geography/channels/event/alexandre-normandeau-geo logical-survey-canada-impact-changing-cryosphere-seabed-eastern-canadian-3 40649 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
