In addition to the research itself\, she will speak to her decision of undergoing an open review process and how that speaks to her ideas of femi nism and social justice. She will build on this concept from her open book review: 'We have chosen to put this draft online because of a foundationa l principle of this project: that all knowledge is incomplete\, and that t he best knowledge is gained by bringing together multiple partial perspect ives.'\n \n Klein is an Associate Professor in the School of Literature\, Me dia\, and Communication at Georgia Tech\, where she also directs the Digit al Humanities Lab. She received her PhD in English and American Studies fr om the CUNY Graduate Center\, and my AB in Literature (English and French) from Harvard University. She is currently at work on two major projects: the first\, Data by Design\, is an interactive book on the history of data visualization\; and the second\, Data Feminism\, co-authored with Catheri ne D'Ignazio\, is a trade book that explores the intersection of feminist thinking and data science. She also maintains ongoing research into the ap plication of quantitative methods to the 'data' of early American culture. Her first book\, Matters of Taste: Eating\, Aesthetics\, and the Early Am erican Archive\, is forthcoming from the University of Minnesota Press. It shows how thinking about eating can help to tell new stories about the ra nge of people\, from the nation's first presidents to their enslaved chefs \, who worked to establish a cultural foundation for the United States. Wi th Matthew K. Gold\, she edits Debates in the Digital Humanities (Universi ty of Minnesota Press)\, a hybrid print/digital publication stream that ex plores debates in the field as they emerge.\n \n This event is part of the F eminist and Accessible Publishing and Communications Technologies Speaker and Workshop Series (https://www.feministandaccessiblepublishingandtechnol ogy.com).
