Surveillance is not simply good or bad\, helpful or harmful\, but it is never neutral\, and it is increasingly at t he core of larger systems of control. Screening Surveillance is a short fi lm series created by sava saheli singh that aims to raise awareness about how large organizations use data and how these practices affect life chanc es and choices. We need to consider these implications\, and critically ex amine the logics and practices within big data systems that underpin\, ena ble\, and accelerate surveillance.' \n\nThis event is part of the 5th Seas on of the Feminist and Accessible Publishing and Communications Technologi es Speaker and Workshop Series\, organized by Dr. Alex Ketchum.\n\nOur ser ies was made possible thanks to our sponsors: SSHRC\, the Institute for Ge nder\, Sexuality\, and Feminist Studies (IGSF)\, the DIGS Lab\, Milieux\, Initiative for Indigenous Futures\, MILA\, Dean of Arts Grant\, ReQEF\, an d more (see our website!)\n\nThere is no fee required to attend this event .
