Dame-Griff traces the digital networks of t ransgender activists\, cross-dressing computer hobbyists\, and others inte rested in gender nonconformity who incited the second revolution of the ti tle: the ascendance of “transgender” as an umbrella identity in the mid-19 90s. Through a history of how trans people online exploited different digi tal infrastructures in the early days of the internet to build community\, Dame-Griff explores a crucial part of trans history—illuminating how we a rrived at our contemporary moment and what lessons this history can offer in a moment of moral panic.\n\nAvery Dame-Griff is a Lecturer in Women's a nd Gender Studies at Gonzaga University. He founded and serves as primary curator of the Queer Digital History Project (queerdigital.com)\, an indep endent community history project cataloging and archiving pre-2010 LGBTQ s paces online.
