It is often characterised as an apprenti ceship in which undergraduate and graduate learners are inducted and socia lised into becoming independent practitioners. It has been this way for ce nturies. An interesting\, but often ignored truism about clinical educatio n apprenticeship is that much of what is learned is learned implicitly\, w hilst observing or participating in practice. Students and trainees pick u p things as they go along without even knowing that they are learning and changing. This presentation will share some insights and observations deri ved from a one year ethnography looking at how implicit learning and teach ing occur in the context of hospital-based medical and surgical teams. The presentation will look at how norms\, values\, practices and clinical kno w-how are communicated and interpreted between senior and junior clinician s in clinical teams. It is hoped that by revealing the implicit and unspok en curriculum that applies within clinical teams\, opportunities for enhan ced clinical education can be realised.'\n \n This event will take place on  Zoom.
