She received her PhD in Soci ology from Carleton University. Before coming to the University of Waterlo o\, she held a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) from 2002-2011.  Suzan Ilcan ’s research cuts across migration\, border studies\, and citizenship and s ocial justice\, and she has published widely on the theme of human displac ement\, precarity\, border and citizenship struggles\, and migrant activis m. She has presented many invited lectures nationally and internationally\ , and received several research grants in her areas of research. Her curre nt research projects examine migration and bordering practices in the cont ext of migrant experiences of displacement\, precarity\, protection\, rese ttlement\, and community-building.\n\nAbstract: Through a focus on ‘plural izing displacement\,’ this presentation emphasizes three dimensions unders coring Syrian displacement: the engagement of temporary protection regimes \, the burgeoning architectures of precarity\, and the complexities of rem aking home in the resettlement context.
