B ut I want also to move beyond that feature and address the notion that rel iance on the idea of property enables difficult policy choices to be injec ted into judicial decisions in an astonishingly subliminal way. Property l aw has the reputation for being politically neutral and doctrinally rigoro us\, with any practical conclusions following from the very nature of thin gs rather than requiring any normative assessment. That view appears flawe d. This is an idea I have addressed periodically\, but it seems apt to rev isit it in the context of this series of lectures.\n\nAbout the Civil Law Workshops\n\nIn order to promote fundamental research in private law\, the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law initiated the “ Civil Law Workshops” series\, bringing together jurists from Québec and be yond to work on related research topics. With their cross-disciplinary foc us\, the “Civil Law Workshops” contribute to enriching and stimulating fun damental research in private law.\n\nThe 2018-2020 series of Civil law wor kshops explore 'Les influences en droit privé'.\n\nThe workshops are prese nted with financial assistance from Justice Canada’s Access to Justice in Both Official Languages Support Fund.\n\nRegistration is not required.\n\n Each workshop has been accredited for 1.5 hour of continuing legal educati on by the Barreau du Québec and the Chambre des notaires du Québec. \n DTSTART:20190329T170000Z DTEND:20190329T183000Z LOCATION:NCDH 202\, Chancellor Day Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 1W9\, 36 44 rue Peel SUMMARY:The Power of Property in Private Law URL:/law/channels/event/power-property-private-law-295 498 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
