Quebec supermarket chains say boycotts of American products are having a direct impact on US food sales,

Grocery stores have put new measures in place to indicate the origin of their products. Loblaw recently announced they will be adding a logo to identify products subject to customs tariffs.听

黑料不打烊 agronomist and economist 笔补蝉肠补濒听罢丑茅谤颈补耻濒迟 says the best strategy isn't necessarily to boycott American products, but rather to focus on discovering and embracing local products:听"It's a much better approach, because in the long run, it's likely to work much better," he told TVA.

鈥淵ou have to remember that we have major Quebec agricultural companies that also have farms in the U.S., so these are Canadian products when we're in [high] season, but they use products made on their farms in the U.S. during the winter months,鈥 he adds. This can lead to seemingly contradictory labels: for example, a container of lettuce that says听"Product of the United States鈥 but also "Packaged in Canada."
