 \nThe use of antibiotics in swine production for the purposes of growth pr
 omotion dates back to the 1950s.  This practice remains controversial\, ho
 wever\, as it may lead to the maintenance of a reservoir of antibiotic res
 istant bacteria and resistance determinants.  The underlying mechanisms fo
 r the growth-promoting antibiotics also remain poorly characterized.  We i
 nvestigated the effect of two commonly employed antibiotics\, chlortetracy
 cline and tylosin\, given at subtherapeutic concentrations on the swine gu
 t microbiota\, antibiotic resistome\, and on the culturable anaerobic bact
 erial population. \n\nEveryone in the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ community is welcome to atten
