This year's guest speaker is?Dr. Shenggen Fan\,?Director General\,?International Food Policy Research Institute (IF PRI)\, who will speak on Reshaping the global food system for a sustainabl e future.\n\nThe triple burden of malnutrition¡ªthe coexistence of hunger\, undernutrition\, and overweight and obesity globally causes enormous loss in human lives and economic opportunities. In the meantime\, the global f ood system is increasingly vulnerable due to several pressures\, including population growth\, rising urbanization\, land and water constraints\, cl imate change\, and persistent conflicts. . A reshaping of the global food system is needed to ensure that Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)\, suc h as those on sustainable agriculture\, food security and nutrition\, resp onsible production and consumption\, and climate action\, are met by 2030. This new food system must be productive and efficient\, environmentally s ustainable and climate-smart\, inclusive\, nutrition- and health-driven\, and business-friendly in order to achieve multiple SDGs. In this presentat ion\, Dr. Fan will provide an overview of the state of global food securit y and nutrition and discuss how to reshape the global food system to feed the world healthily and sustainably.?\n\nABOUT THE SPEAKER\n\nShenggen Fan (·®Ê¤¸ù) has been director general of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) since 2009.\n\nDr Fan joined IFPRI in 1995 as a researc h fellow\, conducting extensive research on pro-poor development strategie s in Africa\, Asia\, and the Middle East. He led IFPRI¡¯s program on public investment before becoming the director of the Institute¡¯s Development St rategy and Governance Division in 2005.\n\nHe is one of the Champions of T arget 12.3 of the Sustainable Development Goals\, dedicated to inspiring a mbition\, mobilizing action\, and accelerating progress toward cutting glo bal food loss and waste. He serves as a member of the Lead Group for the S caling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement appointed by UN Secretary General Ban K i Moon. He serves as advisor to many national governments (including China and Vietnam) on agriculture\, food security and nutrition.\n\nIn 2014\, D r.
