Potential s tand losses can reach 50 percent or greater leading to yield losses of 26 K metric tons in Canada. Recently\, strains of R. solani belonging to AG1 subgroup IA have been reported to cause soybean Rhizoctonia foliar blight or aerial blight (RFB)\, with annual losses of over 1.1 M metric tons in C hina making it an important agricultural disease. Despite its economic imp ortance\, no studies were attempted to uncover the mechanisms of pathogene sis employed by R. solani AG1-IA and also the defence mechanisms employed by soybean. Such knowledge is critical for the enhancement of breeding str ategies aimed at increasing soybean resistance to R. solani and for the de velopment of targeted control methods.\n\nEveryone in the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ community is welcome to attend a PhD oral defense. Please join us in celebrating th e accomplishments of our PhD candidates.\n\n \n\n \n DTSTART:20170605T171500Z DTEND:20170605T171500Z LOCATION:R3-011\, Raymond Building\, CA\, QC\, St Anne de Bellevue\, H9X 3V 9\, 21111 Lakeshore Road SUMMARY: PhD Oral Defense: Global omics-driven approaches to study the host and pathogen responses during Rhizoctonia solani - Soybean interactions URL:/macdonald/channels/event/phd-oral-defense-global- omics-driven-approaches-study-host-and-pathogen-responses-during-rhizocton ia-268044 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
