Favis\, Department of Chemical Engineeri ng\, Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal. Professor Favis is currently on sabb atical leave and serves as a Visiting Professor in the Department.\n\nAlth ough the use of biopolymers in the plastics industry has seen dramatic gro wth in the last decade\, there is an important need to develop next genera tion of high value-added applications for these materials. The goal of thi s work is to develop high performance biopolymer blend materials based on renewable resources with entirely novel phase structures at the nano- and micro-scale. The sophisticated morphological manipulation of these microst ructures can result in fully biobased materials possessing ultra-high mech anical properties.  The materials also have important potential in a varie ty of applications such as: scaffolds for tissue engineering\, drug delive ry and conductive applications. In addition\, a novel approach to recyclin g mixed plastic waste through multi-phase morphology control will also be presented.\n DTSTART:20181012T170000Z DTEND:20181012T180000Z LOCATION:R3-045\, Raymond Building\, CA\, QC\, St Anne de Bellevue\, H9X 3V 9\, 21111 Lakeshore Road SUMMARY:Multiphase Bioplastics as a Route to Sustainable Next-Generation Ma terials URL:/macdonald/channels/event/multiphase-bioplastics-r oute-sustainable-next-generation-materials-290528 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
