It is imperative to develop sensing and analysis systems for rap id and accurate measurement of plant phenotypic traits and crop postharves t properties. In this talk\, Yu Jiang will describe work on integration of imaging and computing technologies to extract phenotypic traits and posth arvest properties for improving crop yield\, quality\, and adaptability. H e will especially focus on two areas: 1) characterization of import crop p roperties for machine harvest and 2) deep learning for plant development a nalysis. He will conclude by discussing research plans to develop advanced engineering solutions for grapevine phenotyping and grape quality assessm ent.\n\nABOUT THE SPEAKER\n\nYu Jiang earned his bachelor and master degre es in Computer Science from China\, and then pursued his Ph.D. degree in A gricultural and Biological Engineering at the University of Georiga. In th e past five years\, Yu primarily focused on two research aspects: field ba sed high throughput plant phenotyping and postharvest quality assessment. So far\, Yu have published 16 peer-reviewed journal articles (with 4 more under review) and 11 conference proceedings. Yu received several major awa rds from the professional societies such as the best paper award from the ITSC division of the ASABE. In addition\, Yu was funded with research gran t (a total of $30\,000) in the past two years.\n\nEveryone is welcome to a ttend\n DTSTART:20190516T140000Z DTEND:20190516T153000Z LOCATION:R2-046\, Raymond Building\, CA\, QC\, St Anne de Bellevue\, H9X 3V 9\, 21111 Lakeshore Road SUMMARY:Imaging Techniques for Field based Plant Phenotyping and Postharves t Quality Assessment URL:/macdonald/channels/event/imaging-techniques-field -based-plant-phenotyping-and-postharvest-quality-assessment-297166 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
