Everyone is welcome to attend.\n\nMarine mammals are among the most contaminated animals on the planet. This is due largely to their position at the top of marine food webs as apex predator s. However\, as large bodied mammals living in the sea\, this group of ani mals is understandably difficult to study. Thus\, while among the most sus ceptible to environmental pollution accumulation\, little is known of poll utant effects in marine mammals. Dr. Desforges will explore the evidence f or pollutant effects across marine mammal populations and identify priorit y groups of environmental chemicals. Laboratory based methods to study mar ine mammal toxicology will be presented\, focusing on the impact of enviro nmental pollutants on important immunological endpoints. Additionally\, Dr . Desforges will explore the need to integrate traditional ecotoxicology w ith stress ecology in order to capture the real world scenario in which wi ldlife are concomitantly exposed to a wide array of stressors\, be they na tural or anthropogenic. To this end\, this talk will introduce ecological modelling based on dynamic energy budgets as an important approach to expl ore complex stress landscapes.\n DTSTART:20200206T163000Z DTEND:20200206T163000Z LOCATION:R3-045\, Raymond Building\, CA\, QC\, St Anne de Bellevue\, H9X 3V 9\, 21111 Lakeshore Road SUMMARY:Effect of environmental pollutants on marine mammal health: spannin g complexity\, biological scales\, and multiple stressors URL:/macdonald/channels/event/effect-environmental-pol lutants-marine-mammal-health-spanning-complexity-biological-scales-and-318 032 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
