His research focuses on food sa fety and food microbiology. Dr. Lu鈥檚 lab develops innovative and rapid sen sing\, instrumentation systems\, and detection methods for ensuring food s afety as well as preventing food bioterrorism and fraud. His lab also appl ies molecular biology and genomic approaches to investigate stress respons e and pathogenesis of microorganisms that pose threats to agri-food system s and public health. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed papers.
