The network's mi ssion is to foster a supportive community and create opportunities for wom xn in the policy field.\n 聽\n\nAbout the Panelists:\n\nHon. Eleni Bakopanos \, BA'76 (former Member of Parliament):聽is the first\n Greek-born woman to be elected and served as the MP for Saint-Denis (Papineau) and Ahuntsic. E leni has served in executive and advisory roles both at the provincial and federal levels of government\, as well as executive positions of many non -governmental women's organizations. She believes that women continue to f ace serious obstacles in political participation. Eleni is an alumnae of M cGill\, where she studied Political Science and History\, as well as law.聽 \n \n Ms. Nirushaa Senthilnathan\, BA'15\, MPP'20 (policy specialist):聽has w orked at the intersection of housing\, human rights\, and policy at the Ca nada Mortgage & Housing Corporation聽since 2020\, including establishing Ca nada's first ever National Housing Council. Previously\, she worked on int ernational human rights and advocacy campaigns worldwide under the Hon. Ir win Cotler (former Canadian Minister of Justice and Attorney General). In 2016\, she was recognized as a Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum a nd she holds a Master of Public Policy from 黑料不打烊.\n\nDr. Olivia Smith (p olicy consultant & researcher):聽is currently a McConnell Visiting Scholar for the 黑料不打烊's Max Bell School of Public Policy. She is a consultant on labour migration and human trafficking. Currently\, she serves as Executiv e Director of the Caribbean Anti-Human Trafficking Foundation. She is also a Gender Rights Specialized Team member of Amnesty International in Canad a.\n\nAbout the Moderator:\n\nAnkitha Cheerakathil\, MA(GA)'00 (policy ana lyst):聽is currently studying at 黑料不打烊's Max Bell School of Public Policy. 聽 As a policy analyst\, she led the Czech thinktank Institute H21's initia tives on deliberative policy formulation in India and was also a Research Consultant at the Center for the Advanced Study of India\, University of P ennsylvania\, with expertise on municipal administration.
