 seminar titled 'A few things we recently learned about radiative forcing'.
  Coffee will be served.\n\nAbstract\n\nRadiative forcing refers to the per
 turbation of Earth radiation energy balance by a greenhouse gas\, e.g.\, C
 O2\, or another agent. The capacity of radiative forcing for climate predi
 ction depends on the quantification of the forcing as well as the sensitiv
 ity of climate. In this talk\, I will discuss a few issues concerning the 
 radiative forcing-based climate prediction framework\, including 1) the lo
 garithmic scaling behavior of greenhouse gas radiative forcing\, 2) its st
 rong dependency on other atmospheric variables and its distribution patter
 n arising from such dependency\, 3) the limitation of the predictability i
 n a case of stratospheric ozone recovery\, and 4) the potential of predict
 ing other aspects of climate change than global surface temperature.\n
