Findings to date do not support causal or robust associations between social media use and adolescents’ developme nt. Instead\, prior studies have produced a mix of small positive\, negati ve\, and often null associations. The narrative around social media and ad olescent development has been negative\, but empirical support for the sto ry of increasing deficits\, disease\, and disconnection is limited. This t alk will synthesize findings from our recent review of associations betwee n social media use and adolescent social and emotional well-being and pres ent new findings from our large study of adolescents followed daily via th eir mobile devices. Recommendations for improving science and practice for adolescents in an increasingly digital and uncertain age will also be pro vided.\n DTSTART:20201027T160000Z DTEND:20201027T170000Z LOCATION:CA\, QC SUMMARY:QLS Seminar Series - Candice Odgers URL:/qls/channels/event/qls-seminar-series-candice-odg ers-325511 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
