Fossils i n the Montreal area are not well known\, but they are everywhere\, in our parks\, homes\, walls and buildings. We hope that with these new interests \, people will become more involved in local spaces.\n\nThe starting meeti ng point will be at Percival Molson Stadium on Park Avenue\n 45°30'40.9 'N 73°34'45.9 'W\n\nParticipants are encouraged to bring common items such as :\n\n\n Water bottles (with spouts)\n magnifying glass\n camera\n DIY scraping kit (vinegar\, paper clip or other scraping tool\, black or white constru ction paper\, and a small notebook) -.\n\n\nWe will give a brief demonstra tion of how to use the scratch kits with various rocks and minerals and ti ps on how to collect data\, take notes\, and look for clues. Participants will then explore the area near the Pine Park interchange. Upon completion of the activity\, children (and adults) should have a better understandin g of how to:\n\n- Compare and group different types of rocks based on thei r appearance\, simple physical/chemical properties.\n - Describe in simple terms how fossils are formed.
