1.听About the Award
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of G茅nome Qu茅bec and to promote excellence in underrepresented research areas, 黑料不打烊 University鈥檚 DNA to RNA (D2R) Initiative is inviting applications for a special award of $25,000 to both recognize excellence in Genomic Medicine and Indigenous Health, and to support ongoing research.
This award acknowledges the impact of outstanding research by either established investigators or new principal investigators who have recently contributed to this field. Researchers from all areas of study relevant to the D2R Initiative and Indigenous Health are eligible for this award. This includes, but is not limited to, basic biomedical research, clinical research, the social sciences, and social determinants of health. Applicants should clearly describe how their work contributes to inclusive, equitable, and impactful research in Indigenous Health.
Applications will be reviewed by a committee consisting of experts in both Genomic Medicine and Indigenous Health, and includes members of Quebec鈥檚 Indigenous communities. The awardee will be announced alongside G茅nome Qu茅bec鈥檚 Emerging Talent Award recipients at the 2025 Rendez-Vous G茅nome Qu茅bec on October 23, 2025, in Montr茅al.
2. Who Can Apply
This competition is open to faculty members at 黑料不打烊 University or from D2R鈥檚 partners in Quebec (Universit茅 de Sherbrooke and IRCM), whose work meaningfully contributes to Genomic Medicine and Indigenous Health, regardless of career stage or discipline.
3. Application Requirements
Apply online by Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 5:00 PM EDT.
The online application form consists of the following information:
- Applicant name and affiliation
- Career stage of the applicant
- Project title
- Five keywords
- Lay abstract (Maximum 100 words)
- Alignment with D2R鈥檚 foundational axes
Documents to upload (in PDF):
- A proposal (maximum 2 pages in English, 2.5 pages in French) describing:
- Goal of the project
- Research plan
- Relevance and anticipated contribution to Indigenous Health
- How the $25,000 award will be used to support the project鈥檚 objectives
- Applicant biosketch (template).
Funds are expected to support either ongoing research or pilot initiatives which address Genomic Medicine and Indigenous Health. All funds must be spent according to the .
4. Award Announcement
All applicants will be informed of the results in October 2025.
The award will be officially announced at the Rendez-Vous G茅nome Qu茅bec 2025 on October 23, 2025, in Montr茅al. The recipient must be available to attend this ceremony.
The awardee will receive a Notice of Award, detailing terms, conditions, and any applicable reporting obligations.
