D2R awards nearly $1.5 million to Master's and Doctoral Scholars across Canada

Montreal, September 10, 2025 鈥 The鈥疍NA to RNA (D2R)鈥痠nitiative at 黑料不打烊 University is proud to announce the recipients of its Master's and Doctoral Scholar Awards, recognizing outstanding and active trainees working on diverse D2R-aligned research projects.

The inaugural call for applications saw over 100 applicants from 黑料不打烊 and D2R鈥檚 Partner Institutions, reflecting the growing momentum of the next generation of RNA-based research across Canada. This Master鈥檚 and Doctoral competition committed nearly $1.5 million in trainee support over the next two years, underscoring the initiative鈥檚 goal of empowering the next generation of researchers.

鈥淒2R is proud to support the growing momentum behind RNA research in Canada. 鈥 said Amelie Quesnel-Vallee, D2R鈥檚 Associate Scientific Director and Chair of D2R鈥檚 Student Training and Knowledge Development Committee. 鈥淚t is inspiring to see so many emerging leaders eager to shape the future of RNA science and translate discoveries into meaningful impact.鈥

D2R鈥檚 Master's and Doctoral Scholar Awards have funded 22 students across 13 different programs of study, including one trainee at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and three at Universit茅 de Sherbrooke (UdeS). These partnerships are integral to D2R鈥檚 commitment to strengthening the RNA research community across Canada.听听听

In addition to receiving financial support through the Scholar Awards, these trainees will participate in the D2R Training Program, launching later this fall. This program is designed to equip trainees with the skills to become better researchers, create networking opportunities within the growing D2R community, and support further career development. The D2R Training Program events will be open to all D2R trainees, and interested students are encouraged to sign up for updates via the 听
